Classroom Teacher
Virginia Preschool Initiative
Role
I want to institute a love of learning so that my students adore being in school. It is my hope they will leave my class every day with a smile! My students will practice essential social skills to prepare them for their future as a student and in life. Together, we learn how to embrace our unique differences and work together to build a safe and happy community. It is so important for these children to know their worth and their potential to succeed. I strive to build confidence in my class through implementation of daily rules, routines, academics, and purposeful play.
Background
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from George Mason University in December 2015. My Master’s degree is in Early Childhood Education, Pre-K-3rd grade. I have an additional Early Childhood Education certificate and licensure in the state of VA. I absolutely love children and worked as a nanny while finishing my graduate studies. I remain close with many of the families in the Arlington community. I have worked in several pre-kindergarten rooms as a substitute with Fairfax County Public Schools, also while I finished my graduate degree. After graduation, I worked at a private preschool in Arlington.
Personal Interests
I love to read, listen to music, and attend live concerts. I have a passion for nature and enjoy hiking and camping. I also love to cook and bake. Cupcakes are my specialty! Most of all, of course, teaching our youngest learners!
Literacy Connection
My favorite authors are Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle.
