Classroom Teacher
Grade 3

Role
As a third grade teacher, my role is to instill a love of reading and learning in all of my students. I hope to create a safe environment in which all students feel accepted and appreciated. I want my students to celebrate their differences, to be open to new ideas, and to know that mistakes help us to grow as learners.

Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor or Science from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Since then I have taught third grade in Destin, FL and in Virginia Beach, VA. This will be my first year in Arlington County, and I am so thrilled to be joining the ATS third grade team!

Personal Interests
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, exercising, and spending time with my husband, Rory, and our two dogs, Noodle and Lucky. After school, you can find me at a gym class or trying out a new recipe! I love college sports and can always be found cheering on the NC State Wolfpack during football and basketball season!

Literary Connection
One of my favorite books is Charlotte’s Web. As a child, I was inspired by the unlikely friendship between Charlotte and Wilbur. The central message of accepting and loving others who are different from you is one that I hope to share with my students.
