Professional  Background
I graduated from Mary Washington College with a degree in American Studies and received my Masters in Education Leadership from George Mason University. After spending a couple years singing with a professional a cappella group, I started teaching in Alexandria City Public Schools and started my career in Arlington at Hoffman Boston in 2015. I’ve taught Kindergarten, Third and Fifth grades, as well as two years as a Science Lab Teacher.

Personal Interests
I live in Alexandria with my wife and two children. I have a rising 1st grade son and a precocious 4 year old daughter. I grew up in Connecticut, moved to Virginia for college and decided to stay in the Northern Virginia area. Outside of school I love reading, traveling and working out. I coach adult and youth CrossFit classes in Alexandria. My sports loyalties lie with the Red Sox and Patriots and have supported both teams through good and bad.

Literary Connection
One of my all time favorite books is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. There was a stretch of time in my youth when I would read it and the Lord of the Rings every summer. I was completely enthralled with the world Tolkien created, down to the different languages and songs for each race of characters. I recently began reading The Hobbit aloud with my son, which has been amazing. I’ve enjoyed sharing Bilbo’s adventures with him and look forward to sharing the rest of Tolkien’s creations with him as well.
