Classroom Teacher

2nd Grade

Role

As a second grade teacher my role to is help every child see themselves as a learner and as a teacher. Each student is an important part of our classroom community. I encourage my students to notice and wonder everyday!

Professional Background

I am a proud Blue Hen alum (University of Delaware). I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education. I also earned a master’s degree from George Mason University in Curriculum and Instruction for Speakers of Other Languages. I was a special educator in Maryland for three years and then moved to Arlington in 1999 where I have been teaching ever since!

Personal Interests

In my free time you can find me out and about with my two sons and husband. We enjoy all that the DC area has to offer.

Literary Connection

The book Ms. Rumphius by Barbara Cooney is a favorite of mine. Just like the main character, I love to travel, live by the sea (even if it is just for a vacation) and I try my best to make the world a more beautiful place.
